Do you remember any food that you grew up eating but yet hardly eat nowadays? Well I do and one of it is my mum's prawn noodle(soup). When we were little, every now and then she would use 2kg of prawns to boil this large pot of prawn soup which will feed prawn noodles to the family for the whole day and sometimes more.
Those were the days when I would never order a bowl of Prawn Noodle at hawker centre because it can never satisfy me with enough prawns, pork slice or fish cakes. I mean I used to add whatever amount I want myself at home from this big plate of prawn noodle ingredients that my mum prepared. So how can a hawker prawn noodle ever stand up to my home version?
But my mum stopped cooking that long time ago since we grew up and are spending considerably lesser time at home for meals. So therefore it doesn't make sense anymore to buy 2kg of prawns to cook prawn noodles when all you want to eat is just 1 bowl right? I didn't even realise how long ago since my mum last cooked it but today the mood arrives in her and she said, " OK! Today we are having prawn noodles!" Honestly, I was so excited that I took photos of the process.

Wow...Alfred.. the prawn noodle yr mum cooked looks great..
Yr mum very experimental and so lucky of you to try her prawn mee today since her mood arrives. :)
Mum is the BEST BEST BEST !!
it takes quite a lot of effort to prepare the prawn noodle.
i agreed with you that the unlimited prawns, meat, fish cakes is the best part in eating the noodles at home. :)
Looks delicious !
Jasmine: Well, yes mum cooking is still da best!
Boon: If you love cooking, the effort would be fun! For me I hate the washing part otherwise cooking is really enjoyable!
